Stress, Stressed out, stressing me out…
Its one of the first words out of everyone’s mouth – STRESS – rush, rush, rush, now, now, now – So much to do and so little time and always looking at the watch. Bufffff!
An illness of modern times – Traffic jams, work pressures, feeling out of control, late train, emotional problems (relationship breakups ), physical pressures, chemical causes ( coffee, drugs ), queues at the supermarket, busy busy busy.
This can all cause so many symptoms that we would not necesarely relate to stress – irritability, loss of sense of humour, difficulty in making decisions, lack of concentration, not doing jobs in logical order, feeling defensive or angry inside, disinterested in large areas of your life…and there is also the physical symptoms – Insomnia, sweating, breathlessness, faints, loss of appetite, binging, constipation, diarrhoea, muscle spasms, eczema, sexual disinterest and the biggest symptoms of them all heart attack or stroke where it will be too late to do anything about it and stress management is very important before you get to that stage.
Stress is not meant to be an everyday thing, and its very dangerous as it can lead to hardening of the arteries, heart attacks and strokes.
One of the best ways to manage it is through exercise, but of course you can also make sure life just flows at a nice pace for you and make sure your job has little or no stress attached to it, but unfortunately this is not always possible.
Pretty much all essential oils can help fight stress as they are used in massage and baths which are therapeutic in their own right! Although essential oils work on a deeper level and there are particular ones that work specially well on stress. They are actually so effective, that they probably provide the most effective way of coping with the problems related with and caused by stress.
When we are stressed the Immune System weakens and we are less able to fight disease, and essential oils have amazing qualities that help strengthen the Immune System.
