Moody Mondays – Memory

With crazy lives that we lead we are having to multi task all day everyday and remember a million and one things to do, for home, for work, for the kids, our husbands/wives…

Today, we are going to look at Memory Enhancement and lack of Memory. When a molecule from an aroma hits the olfaction receptors they connect with an area of the brain that deals with memory, as well as other things.

In aromatherapy this connection is used actively by stimulating the memory to remember information we have learned in the past.

Sure, certain smells will evoke past memories, but what we are looking at here is Memory Enhancement, essential oils have many benefits and even if you don’t notice at first, things will be easier to remember and you will remember details of situations and events more easily too.

You can diffuse certain oils whilst writing a report to remember details you want to put in that you have already stored in your brain. It can work well to retrieve information that you have memorised as it stimulates the Hippocampus, which is apparently the bit responsible for storing information about experiences and fact. My favourite oils to diffuse are:-

🌱Basil – gives the mind immense clarity,
🌱Bergamot – great at giving confidence,
🌱Rosemary – well known for memory and
🌱Lemon – great for concentration.
🌱Thyme Linalol – A neurotonic

Here you can play with a formula that feels right for you. Use 6-8 drops in your diffuser by either making a synergistic blend first or using them individually.

A synergistic blend I have used and worked well for me is:-

🌱Rosemary – 10 drops
🌱Basil – 5 drops
🌱Thyme Linadol – 7 drops
🌱Lemon – 8 drops

Blend the neat essential oils together in a amber glass bottle and use as and when you need it either by diffusing or you can also use a drop or two on a tissue or hankie and inhale for a min of 20 mins at one time.
