So where does the lemon originally come from?
Here in the south of Spain, we have lemon trees everywhere you look.
They are so common you’d have thought that the lemon originated here – BUT NO!
Lemons came from India originally and was first brought to Italy and later got distributed to the rest of the Mediterranean, in particular Spain and Portugal. This was in the 5th Century. Columbus took some seeds to America as well, and hence the important production in California.
A great daily routine
Do you drink warm lemon water first thing in the morning?
If NOT – it is time you started! In India, it is common practice and as the fruit originated from there, they must be onto something…
Having warm lemon water first thing in the morning helps to alkalines your body.
This is of crucial benefit to your health when we consider that most of us live in an over-acidic body due to our eating habits of meat, dairy, and sugar.
Stress also takes its toll, and we all have a bit too much of that to deal with, don’t we? Balance is very important here.
The friend who first told me about this trick many years ago swears by it, and so do I now! She says that the moment she stops having lemon in the morning, she gets receptive to colds or starts feeling unwell.
And it gives you a welcome shot of energy in the morning to boost!
Why lemons are so good for you?
Too much acidity in the body will encourage pain through symptoms of inflammation, gout, rheumatism, arthritis, etc.
When the body has too much uric acid and can’t get rid of it, it leads to little crystals forming, which cause pain and inflammation in the joints.
Lemons have some very important properties, one of which is to help the body against infection. It has the ability to stimulate the body’s own defense system and it’s a powerful bactericide. It also has anti-viral properties, so it is a great oil to diffuse at home, especially given the current situation.
The main systems lemons help are the digestive, immune, and respiratory systems.
